Goobi to go – Your own Goobi up and running in 5 minutes

Once you have taken the decision to use Goobi, this brief guide will show you how to get the application up and running in just a few minutes. Simply load the virtual machine onto your system, launch it, and you are ready to start. If you have any questions, either now or later on, take a look at our documentation or contact us.

Your Goobi to go installation uses the tools Vagrant and VirtualBox. These generate the virtual machine and install in it all the components and software packages you need in order to operate Goobi. First of all, Vagrant and VirtualBox need to be installed on the target system. Both are available for a range of operating systems.

Please notice that Vagrant is currently only working correct on a Windows operating system in Version 1.9.2. Please use for a Windows installation this link to install vagrant.x

To start running your own Goobi to go just follow the steps outlined below.

Step 1: Download the files

First download the files you need. You can either check out the entire Git repository directly or download the entire repository as a zip file.

Step 2: Generate the virtual machine

If you have downloaded the zip file, first unpack it. Next, at the command line, navigate to the directory containing the extracted files. You can now generate the virtual machine with Goobi to go:

  • cd goobi-to-go
  • vagrant up

Step 3: Login in Goobi

Once you have launched the virtual machine, you can login in Goobi with the following details:

  • URL: http://localhost:8080/goobi/
  • Username: testadmin
  • Password: test

Using Goobi in a productive environment with large-scale projects

This version of  Goobi to go is also suitable for productive operation within your digitisation projects. However, if you are planning a large-scale project, however, it may be more effective to install Goobi on a standalone server and integrate an authentication system such as LDAP or Active Directory. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Commercial usage of Goobi to go

Please note that Goobi to go may only be used for non-commercial purposes. You must obtain written consent from intranda GmbH before using the automatic installer (and the components included by intranda in the installation) either for commercial purposes or with commercial support. If you wish to do so, please contact us at any time using our contact form.
